Washington Commanders are looking for their second NFC East Division win in Week 9

Washington Commanders are looking for their second NFC East Division win in Week 9

Ashburn, VA. – The 2021 NFL season is the last Washington commanders defeated the New York Giants in a season series.

Before that, you have to go back to 2011, long before “Commanders‘ was the name to find a season victory in favor of burgundy and gold in this series.

The Giants have now won three of the last four and six of the last ten meetings Washington. However, that one win in the last four games on this site came this season as things appear to be taking a turn for the better in DMV football.

And if this trend continues to break the previous one, the Commanders will be at the top of the NFC East division for the eighth week in a row. Here’s a preview of what’s coming this weekend.

Washington is the feel-good story of the season, as new owners made or enabled sweeping changes last year that resulted in wins and renewed confidence in the franchise’s direction.

The win over the Giants in Week 2 was part of that – even with seven field goals and no touchdowns scored – and after the improbable Hail Mary win over the Chicago Bears that felt like a real watershed moment, there are expectations for another Victory comes over the last placed team in the division.

WEEK 9 OPPONENT: at the New York Giants, 2-6

Prediction: Washington wins by 10 or more

Don’t look now, but the Eagles have won three straight and could turn things around just in time to stay with Washington and make the two teams’ Thursday Night Football duel in Week 11 an epic regular-season contest .

To keep pace, Philadelphia will have to do the same thing the Commanders need to do this weekend and deal with an opponent that is significantly inferior on paper.

WEEK 9 OPPONENT: vs. Jacksonville Jaguars, 2-6

Prediction: Eagles keep pace

A lot of people are laughing at the Cowboys’ demise this season, and most of you reading this are probably one of them.

With Micah Parsons out and it doesn’t look like he’ll be able to return this weekend, it’s possible the downward spiral will continue. Especially against a team that is in first place in its own division.

WEEK 9 OPPONENT: at the Atlanta Falcons, 5-3

Prediction: Kirk kicks Dak while he’s down

Nobody is going to give the Giants a chance to win this weekend. But with rookie running back Tyrone Tracy Jr. tipped to play this weekend, it’s not just the Commanders who will bring an improved unit.

WEEK 9 OPPONENT: vs. Washington Commanders, 6-2

Prediction: Still Washington, even with Tracy
