The Jaguars’ Doug Pederson is still in the doom seat

The Jacksonville Jaguars are 2-6 and travel to Philadelphia to face head coach Doug Pederson’s former team, the Eagles.

Pederson has been on the hot seat since September and got off to a miserable start. Owner Shad Khan called this team the best in franchise history, which only reinforces the point.

“Winning now is the expectation. Make no mistake, this is the best team the Jacksonville Jaguars have ever assembled. Best players, best coaches. But most importantly, we prove it by winning now,” Khan said.

Pederson picked up wins against the Indianapolis Colts and New England Patriots, but the pressure didn’t let up. The Buffalo Bills loss was a complete embarrassment, as was the loss to the Chicago Bears.

Fox Sports ranks Pederson among the hottest coaches heading into Week 9. He pointed out that the upcoming tough schedule would not benefit the coach either.

“His job was most likely saved with a 32-16 win over the terrible New England Patriots in London two weeks ago,” said Ralph Vacciano of Fox Sports wrote. “There were many indications that a loss would have resulted in him being fired before the team plane landed back in Florida. His cause was also helped by a narrow loss to the Green Bay Packers on Sunday, which just shows how.” Standards have fallen in Jacksonville, but the numbers are now 2-2 and franchise quarterback Trevor Lawrence finally showed signs of life on Sunday , which were able to keep the reactionary instincts of Jags owners in check.

“But only for a limited time. The Jaguars remain one of the biggest underachievers in the NFL, going 3-11 with an 8-3 record since joining last December. The Jags also play Philadelphia (5-2) at home. against the Vikings (5-2) and at Detroit (6-2) in the next three weeks, which could set the stage for Pederson to be fired a week later, during her bye.

While Pederson’s career in Duval is most likely coming to an end, there is one good chances that he will stay at the helm until the season is over. Khan is known for letting things out.
