OKLAHOMA CITY (KFOR) – An officer-involved shooting occurred during an officer-involved chase Thursday morning, according to Oklahoma City police.

The pursuit ended near SW 66th St. and Penn Ave., where the suspect continued to fire shots.

“The officers returned fire and the suspect was struck,” said MSgt. Gary Knight with OKCPD.

According to police, the suspect then broke into a nearby residence and the emergency unit was called.

“He went into the apartment, eventually our tactical unit responded to the scene, entered and took the suspect into custody,” Knight added.

The suspect was taken to a nearby hospital. A passenger in the vehicle attempted to escape but was quickly arrested.

Officials say it’s unclear why the suspect drove away during the traffic stop. No further information is available as the investigation continues.
