Kate Middleton and Prince William share their bed with a family member

Kate Middleton and Prince William have three children. They are active parents to Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince George. But, like many parentsthey don’t have the luxury of sleeping alone. There is a family member who regularly shares the bed.

Kate Middleton and Prince William’s bed is an inviting place

Prince William and Kate Middleton are probably just like many parents who use their bedroom as a cozy place to cuddle or talk with their children when they have some time to themselves. However, one family member has made himself permanently comfortable in the Princess and Princess of Wales’ bed.

During a visit to Duchy College in Cornwall, England, William told a royal fan that he and Kate often share their bed with their cocker spaniel Orla (per Hello!). Louise Harland revealed that William told her Orla was sleeping with the couple.

Hello! Harland later told Hits Radio Cornwall: “(William) said his little dog sleeps on the bed with them at night, with him and Kate.” (He was) absolutely in love with my little dog. He asked what breed he was and he’s never met any of those breeds before, he’s a cockerjack, so quite a unique combination.”

How long have the couple been Orla’s dog parents?

Orla has been part of Prince William and Kate Middleton’s home since 2020. The dog was gifted to the couple by Kate’s brother James Middleton. Orla was the second dog that James gave to the couple. The first was Lupo, who died in November 2020.

He told Hello! He believes the cocker spaniel supported his sister the way she did fought against cancer in 2024. James said: “I know how much the dogs have helped me take my mind off things. That’s why I’m sure Orla will do her job for her and support her family.”

Orla was featured in the Video message from the Princess of Wales Confirmation that she had finished chemotherapy. At the start of the clip, Orla walks alongside William, Kate and their children Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis. The four-legged family member was also seen with the couple as they laid out a picnic blanket on the beach.

Orla also appeared in Princess Charlotte’s seventh birthday portrait, taken by the Princess of Wales. The pictures were taken in Norfolk near the family’s country home, Anmer Hall, on the Sandringham Estate.

Does the family have other pets?

In April 2024, Prince William visited a youth farm and revealed that Orla is not the family’s only pet. In a video clip shared by The Telegraph’s Victoria Ward, he revealed that the Welsh clan also has a guinea pig X.

However, William claimed that his children always forgot to clean the animal’s cage. Therefore, it automatically became his job.

During his visit, William met a guinea pig named Snowflake. It seemed that William was very comfortable handling the animal.

“These guinea pigs are very popular, they look extremely cozy,” Prince William claimed. “Hello, hello!” said the prince to the little animal.

As a child, Prince William grew up around animals. His parents, King Charles and Princess Diana, had a Jack Russel Terrier named Tigga and a Labrador named Harvey.
